During the recent pandemic, two sisters set out to publish a book of their grandmother's poetry. From opposite sides of the country, virtual meetings were penned into otherwise empty appointment pages. They found poems which, for over 30 years, had been forgotten in dusty keepsake boxes and desk files. Poems were read, reread, and took on new meaning in a pandemic era. At the same time, the sisters' relationship was enriched, and wisdom was gained. The project was initially started to complete their grandmother's dream of being a published author, however it became clear there was a bigger purpose in play. "Nana Margaret" lived a life of tragedies, including enduring the 1918 pandemic. Through these experiences, she learned to persevere and to appreciate the connections to everyone and everything she encountered. Her poems remind us to value all living things, from the bird outside our window, the postman who delivers our mail, our family, and our connection to Spirit. Read more
